Speakers Corner
Rotary International motto for the year 2010-2011

Speakers Corner

We normally have very interesting speakers. Often the subject the speaker talked about is worthy of providing a bit more information. This page shows some additional information with links to web sites the speaker was talking about.

23 March 2010 - Tom Phillips - Chocolatier

Our speaker Tom Phillips - chocolatier - demonstrated making chocolates, with a chocolate for everyone attending. It must be said that the audience enjoyed that very much. During the demonstration he made an Easter egg, which was the main price at the raffle. Tom has a good website if you want to know more.

23 Feb 2010 - Robert Jinks - Stroke Association

An interesting insight in the work of “The Stroke Association” was presented by Robert Jinks. You mave seen the recent TV campaign using “F.A.S.T.” to recognise when somebody is having a stroke. Early detection could lead to better recovery.
Anybody wanting to know more about the work of this association should visit their website by clicking here.

16 Feb 2010 - Cathy Cook and Ed Moss - Young Carers

Cathy Cook of “solihull carers centre” and Ed Moss of “Coventry Carers’ Centre” showed us a DVD and gave a very interesting talk about their work with and for Young Carers. Young carers are people aged between 5 and 18 years and who have a responsibility for looking after someone. For more about their talk to us, see our newsletter of Feb/Mar 2010 (page 1) for a full report.
